Verizon Motorola Droid X Technical Specifications and Gallery
The all new Motorola Droid X from Verizon which will be available from July 15th nationwide has a impression feature set and specs. At launch it will run on TI OMAP 3640 1GHz processor powered by the Android 2.1 OS which will eventually be updated to Android 2.2 later this summer. Motorola will introduce their all new MOTOBLUR experience on this phone along with the mobile hotspot feature, DLNA support, and a multitouch keyboard with Swype built-in.
Droid X will feature a massive 4.3 inch high-resolution WVGA display at 854 x 480 resolution, a 8MP camera with dual flash that can do 720p video recording, HDMI out, three microphones (one for video, one for voice, and one for noise cancellation), and 8 GB of internal storage with a microSD slot that supports up to a 32 GB microSD card.
Along with the Android 2.2 OS, Adobe Flash Player version 10.1 will also be provided as an OTA (over-the-air) update in the latter half of the summer. With Android 2.2 DROID X will be able to support both Exchange and Gmail for business. Corporate users can enjoy push delivery of e-mail; live widgets that stream messages to the home screen; filter widgets to differentiate work and home e-mail; corporate directory and Global look-up along with a unified calendar for Enterprise and sync with Google Calendar™. Security protocols allow remote password control and wipe via Exchange server.
DROID X by Motorola will be available from July15 at all Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and also online at www.verizonwireless.com for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new 2-year contract. Customers will have to subscribe to either a Nationwide Talk plan or a Nationwide Talk & Text plan. These plans begin at a monthly rate of $39.99. In addition they will also need to subscribe to an Email and Web for Smartphone plan. Email and Web for Smartphone plans start at $29.99 for unlimited monthly access.
Customers can add the optional 3G Mobile Hotspot service to their DROID X for $20 per month. With 3G Mobile Hotspot, the smartphone can be used as a wireless modem that can support up to five compatible Wi-Fi devices.
