BoyGeniusReport has revealed that their sources at VZW confirm a new OS, 4.7.0.148 for the BlackBerry storm 9530, will be released on Sunday, May 31st at 3pm. According to Verizon, this is a “general maintenance release that improves the overall user experience.”

People who are very frustrated with the current buggy version of the OS can directly go to blackberry.com/update after that time to get the software update. For users with a less urgent desire to upgrade their Blackberry Storm OS, a rolling OTA upgrade (Options> Advanced Options > Wireless Updates) will begin at 10pm on the same day. BoyGeniusReport has also got their hands on 4 pages (images) of the change log for this release.

The official confirmation from Verizon goes like this:

Customers will be able to get the update via the Web at www.blackberry.com/update beginning Sunday, May 31 from 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Verizon Wireless will also be rolling this update out to customers through an over-the-air download beginning Sunday night (10 p.m. Eastern Time). To get the download over the air, go to Options> Advanced Options > Wireless Updates.
