iPhone 4 Features, Technical Specifications and Gallery
Apple has unveiled its new iPhone 4 at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference(WWDC) 2010 today and it has some amazingly cool new features.
iPhone 4 Design
The iPhone 4 at just 9.3 millimeters thin, makes it the world’s thinnest smartphone. It will be powered by Apple’s own mobile processor, the A4 chip. On the front and the back of the iPhone 4 is two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. ![]()
The 960-by-640 backlit LCD display boasts a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch, making it the highest-resolution phone screen ever. The stainless steel band that goes around the phone is an antenna system, while also providing strength to the side of the iPhone 4. iPhone 4 will feature a 5 mega pixels camera on the back and there will also be a camera at the front. There is also the built-in LED flash that not only works as a flash while taking pictures but also stays ON while shooting video to light up the scene.![]()
iPhone 4 is the first phone with a built-in three-axis gyroscope. When paired with the accelerometer, it makes iPhone 4 capable of advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, angular velocity, and rotation rate which means amazing gaming capabilities.
iPhone 4 Multitasking
The iPhone 4 will run on iPhone OS 4 (no called iOS 4) and Multitasking is the most prominent new features. With Multitasking you will be able to switch between apps instantly without slowdown in performance or without having to stopping any of the already running applications.
The multitasking feature can be used and controlled by just double-clicking the Home button. This will reveal your recently used or running apps. You can scroll right to see more apps, then tap one to reopen it. No need to wait for the app to reload. Apps can remember where you left off. So with multitasking you can now listen to your favorite music from any third-party apps while checking email, surfing the web, playing games, and performing other tasks.
You can even do multitasking when you are on a call. During a call you can easy switch to other tasks such as checking a movie listing or reading an email. Skype calls are treated just like nay other application and all the Skype calls can be received while you are using other apps.
iPhone 4 Camera: 5 Megapixels with LED Flash
iPhone 4 will features a 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash and 5x digital zoom on the back. There is a VGA quality camera in the front to take self-portraits and for FaceTime video calling. The advanced backside illumination sensor captures great pictures even in low light.
Share your photos has been easy on the iPhone 4. You can send photos via email or MMS using the Camera app. Every photo you take is geotagged with information about your location, which you can save to your computer and share with iPhoto, Aperture, Flickr, and other compatible applications and services.
iPhone 4 FaceTime Video Calling
With the introduction of the Front facing camera and some advanced technology Apple has made it possible to make Video calls using a new feature called as FaceTime. as of now this feature is WiFi only and works for is iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 only. There great thing about this is there is NO setup required.
To make this work alls you have to do is just find a contract in your Contacts list and tap the FaceTime button. Immediately an invitation pops up on the contact’s iPhone 4 screen asking if he or she wants to join you. When accepted, the video call begins. FaceTime video call can be done even when you’re already on a voice call and you want to switch to video.
Apple has specifically tuned the front camera for the FaceTime feature on the iPhone 4. Another amazing and cool thing about this feature is that you can use the back camera in the same video call to share what you are actually seeing in front of you. You just need to tap a button to show what you are seeing using the back camera.
iPhone 4 HD Video recording
iPhone 4 enables you to shoot HD quality videos and also edit it right within the Camera app. iPhone 4 features a advanced backside illumination sensor that delivers great-looking video in both bright and low-light settings. And in dark environments, you can brighten the scene with the built-in LED light. You can also do video focus just by tapping a part of the scene being recording. The camera immediately focuses on it and adjusts exposure to match the lighting. Just like the photos you can easily share the videos by emailing , sending an MMS, publishing it to the MobileMe gallery or posting it on Youtube.
