Anybody who has an iPhone or an iPod Touch would tell you that these devices took the web browsing experience to a whole new level. The Mobile Safari web browser is simply amazing and does things so well, you sometimes forget that it is indeed a Mobile Web Browser. Really, the mobile web experience on the iPhone OS is second to none… Well that is until now. In Palm Pre’s web browser the safari web browser has definitely met its match. Here is a look at the Palm Pre web browsing experience at its best.

How to Launch the web browser on Palm Pre
Well, its pretty simple. you just have to tap on the Web icon in the Launcher and the the Web browser comes up as shown in the screen shot below, showing you an input bar when you’d type in a web address or a search query. As you can see, your bookmarks are hanging out as thumbnails in the background as you type.

When you enter the web site URL and hit go what you get is the full HTML version of the page. No mobile watered down version. You get all of it. Lightning fast and incredibly accurate to form as seen below.

How to zoom in on the web page
You can zoom in on any part of the web page just by double tapping or tabbing at any area on the page and you’ve zoomed in for a closer look.

How to create web page shortcut on the Launcher
Tapping the “Web” option up at the top left corner, gives you the standard options to ‘Add a new Card’, view Bookmarks, History, Preferences, etc. There is a sub-menu under Page called the ‘Add to Launcher’. By selecting this you can add a web page right to your Launcher with the rest of your apps.

How to set or change browser preferences
By tapping “Web” up at the top left corner, gives you the standard options including the Preferences option. Here you can Block Popups, Accept Cookies and enable/disable Javascript. There are also options to clear History Cookies and Cached data.

How to Bookmark a web page on the Palm Pre
If you want to bookmark a web page just tap the “Web” menu and then tap “Add Bookmark” to bring up this page.

And after you tap the “Add Bookmark” button, a thumbnail of your page will show up among your other bookmarks, like this:

What is Palm Pre Multi-tasking Feature
And now for the killer feature of the Palm Pre browser - Multi-tasking. On the Palm Pre you can keep several of the Web Browser ‘cards’ open at once there by allowing you to freely surf as much as you’d like without having to close the page you’re on! Just open another card, right from the application menu and your other page will remain open! All this is possible because of the wonderful multi-tasking capability of the Palm Pre.
