Google Nexus One: First to get Android 2.2 OTA update
Google today announced and started pushing over-the-air (OTA) Android 2.2 updates to the Nexus One owners. This makes Google Nexus One, the first android Smartphone to get the “Froyo”, Google codename for Android 2.2 OS.
Google will send messages about the OTA update to owners of Nexus One which can be found on the phone’s notification bar. Users can then choose to download and install the update. The Android 2.2 update will be rolled out gradually and most users will receive the notification by the end of the week .
Android 2.2 has several important enhancements like:
- Exchange support
- Improved performance
- Improved web browser performance and support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1
- Camera improvement with new UI for controlling zoom, flash, white balance, geo-tagging, focus and exposure. Gallery feature with peek into picture stacks using a zoom gesture
- Portable hotspot feature
- Multiple Language keyboards
- Android Cloud to Device messaging
