Android 2.2 update for HTC EVO 4G only; Not for HTC Hero & Samsung Moment

Sprint has announced on its Twitter account that it will be pushing an Android 2.2 update to all the HTC EVO 4g smartphones “in the near future”. Sprint also indicated that other Android 2.1 phones launching this year will also get the Android 2.2 update.

Sling Media releases SlingPlayer for Android Smartphones

Sling Media Inc today announced the availability of its SlingPlayer Mobile application for Android Smartphones like Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Incredible, HTC Evo and Google Nexus One. The SlingPlayer application allows the Android phone users to easily access their home TV experience anywhere with their mobile phone or Wi-Fi internet access.

Android 2.1 update finally comes to Sprint HTC Hero

After many delays and rumored Sprint has finally announced the availability of Android 2.1 update package for the HTC Hero. This update will not be done over-the-air as of now and so you will have do a manual update. You can get the updates from 2 sites: HTC’s website and Sprint’s own site.

Amazon brings Kindle App to Android

Amazon has announced that it will be releasing its Kindle App for Android OS this summer. When available this application will be free to use. With Kindle Android App you can search and browse more than 500,000 books, including more than 96 of 110 New York Times bestsellers.

Sprint sends OTA software update for HTC Hero that fixes SMS bug

Sprint has started sending over-the-air software update to the Sprint Hero handsets. This firmware fixes many issues prominent among them being the daylight savings bug and the bug with the SMS causing battery drain.
If you didn’t automatically receive the OTA software updated versioned 1.56.651.2 then do the following:

Go to Settings
Select About
Select System Updates
Then select Firmware Update.

Best Buy now offering HTC Hero & Samsung Moment for $100 on Sprint

As part of its Holiday promotion, Best Buy will be selling the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment for only $100. Could the drop in price be attributed to the $99 Verizon Eris? This price is of course tied to a 2 year contract.

HTC Hero Features and Specification

New Android-based HTC Hero Images Leaked

Courtesy of the folks at Code Android Singapore, new images of the Android OS powered HTC Hero have surfaced. These images follow an earlier image that was leaked back in January. That image was that of an all pink HTC Hero. These new images however have a more traditional black matte finish. There is no other details available as of now. So just check out the images for now.
