Sprint to rollout Android 2.2 update for HTC EVO 4G beginning August 1st

Sprint is expected to make an announcement Friday July 31st about the rollout of Android 2.2 (Froyo) update for HTC EVO 4G.  As per the pictures obtained by engadget the update will be pushed out starting the week of 8/1.

Yahoo! releases Search, Mail and Messenger Apps for Android

Yahoo today released many of their products for the Android platform including Android widget for Yahoo search, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger apps and also HTML5 optimized Yahoo Mail and Yahoo News site.  These latest apps are optimized for popular Android devices like HTC Incredible, Motorola Droid Google Nexus One and HTC EVO 4G. And they are available for download from the Android Market for Android OS 2.0 and above.

Android 2.2 update for HTC EVO 4G only; Not for HTC Hero & Samsung Moment

Sprint has announced on its Twitter account that it will be pushing an Android 2.2 update to all the HTC EVO 4g smartphones “in the near future”. Sprint also indicated that other Android 2.1 phones launching this year will also get the Android 2.2 update.

As announced previously, the HTC EVO 4G from Sprint is available for buying from today. You can buy this beast of a gadget for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate (taxes excluded) with a new line activation or eligible upgrade.
