Sprint has announced on its Twitter account that it will be pushing an Android 2.2 update to all the HTC EVO 4g smartphones “in the near future”. Sprint also indicated that other Android 2.1 phones launching this year will also get the Android 2.2 update.

This comes just days after Verizon announced that Motorola Droid X will get Android 2.2 later this summer. Initially there was some confusion about which phones will get the update but Sprint later clarified that the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment will not get Android 2.2 and there no updates planned.

Android 2.2 OS, also known as Froyo will have some significant updates like improved performance, support for Exchange, improved camera features and more.
